  • What is a Conservation Easement?
A Conservation Easement is an agreement between a land owner and a conservation entity in which the land owner agrees to protect their property into perpetuity as the property is in its current state. This type of agreement protects a property from further development. In some cases their is an option to provide the land owner with monetary compensation for creating a conservation easement. Owner can retain some reserved rights for the property such as continued regular best use farming practices, hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities. The emphasis here is on protecting the land from development.
